Rhinoplasty and its benefits

Rhinoplasty and its benefits

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is a surgical procedure in which nose’s size is decreased or increased, the shape is modified and some disorders that obstruct the passage of air through it are corrected.

It has aesthetic and functional benefits: people who are unhappy with the size or shape of their nose can get a better balance and harmony to their facial features, but can also perceive a significant impact on functionality.

improving the appearance is one of the most common reasons that patients attend a rhinoplasty. Often they feel that the size or shape does not harmonize with the rest of their facial features and seek advice to find the balance to their faces.

When the shape of the nose is altered, attention can be diverted to other areas of the face, highlighting another feature that was being overshadowed and finding harmony.

On the other hand, for functionality, rhinoplasty can provide solutions to health problems, correcting any structural abnormality and improving the ability of a patient's breathing. In addition, through this procedure we can correct some birth defects, such as a deviated septum that affects normal breathing.

Types of noses suitable for rhinoplasty

Types of noses suitable for rhinoplasty

The nose is a fundamental part to the harmony of the face. For this reason, my patients resort to a Rhinoplasty for positive outcomes and achieving a balance in their face.

The size and the shape of the nose are two of the most common reasons that many patients decide to undergo a rhinoplasty. What are other common types of noses that generate discontent in people? Here are some of them:

Nose with unequal Tip: are those noses, which one of the sides of the tip can be different from the other. In some cases, one side can be larger, smaller, or slightly twisted to one side. This type of nose has to do with the underlying cartilage; these irregularities can be causes from an injury or a genetic factor.

Nose with a prolonged nasal tip: is when the tip of a nose sticks out and makes the size of the nose look bigger.
There are two options to treat a nose with a prolonged nasal tip; the first involves raising the bridge of the nose, so that the bridge matches the shape of the tip. The second option has to do with reducing the nasal tip.

Depressed nose: the nose has a depression or has collapsed on the surface along the nasal bridge.

Big nose: patients have a Rhinoplasty to reduce the size of their nose with respect to the size of their face or because they want to reshape their nose after the growth over the years.

Elongated nose: a nose with excessive length when looking at a person’s profile. With plastic surgery, the nose is shortened to recover a normal length.
