Many of my patients are satisfied with the size of their breasts when their surgery has been recent and they wonder, with concern if when the swelling passes, will they lose the results that they have obtained.

However, because the recovery time after a breast augmentation varies from one patient to another, most of the swelling decreases between the third and sixth week. Once that time passes, it is very unlikely that if the surgery has been successful, you will lose such a volume in a cup size, which is a lot.

What is most expected is that the result is very close to what the patient can perceive once she has left her surgery. What does change is the position of the implants, since they tend to descend and locate correctly once the trauma has passed. I recommend a lot of patience and willingness to face the postoperative period to visualize the desired results.

The size and shape of the breasts after mastopexy is the main concern of my patients, so I consider necessary to talk about this theme, because this characteristic is decisive in the final results.

The profile is more determinant than the amount of cc that has the prosthesis, therefore, two prostheses of the same amount of cc and different projection will give two different results.

The silicone prostheses have a base size and a projection size. The projection is the measure forward, if the person are standing. The base, instead it is related to the width, if we look the bust in front.

If your natural breast is small, more projection you will need, if you expect noticeable results.In this case, many patients choose the prothesis of high projection. Many women who have a medium breast, choose the protheses of low or medium projection. Of course, there are always patients who want to have a notorious change and opt for high projection prostheses.

If you have slender breast, I recommend to you the protheses with narrow root that will adjust to your anatomy and will seem more natural. If you have breasts with wide root I recommend to you the protheses of broad base.

Many of my patients ask me if lipoinjection in the buttocks and breasts is a permanent or temporary procedure.

On this subject it is important that you know that this is a procedure that has a history of more than twenty years, in which the technology has advanced much to achieve permanent results.

Lipoinjection is a process in which part of the adipose tissue is removed from the body, purified and injected into the desired area. If you are a thin person, you should consider another procedure such as silicone prosthesis implantation, since will not be possible extract enough fat from your body. However if you have unwanted fat in areas such as the abdomen, legs or arms, this procedure may interest you.

At the time of performing the lipoinyección is possible that you see your buttocks or breasts bigger that the desired size. This is normal, because over time the body reabsorbs between 20% and 40% of fat. The rest of the fat is integrated into the muscle because it is living tissue.

Please follow strictly my recommendations, so you will have the better results and avoid complications.

A breast augmentation or mamoplasty has two options for implant placement, sub-glandular and sub-muscular. In our asessment appointment we will decide the location of the implants, because this varies from one patient to another. Without having studied your particular case, it is difficult to determine the best location for your breast implants, however, is a frequent question of my patients. I will explain what is the difference between both options:

Subglandular breast implant.

Subglandular breast augmentation, or also known as a submammary, is based on the collation of the implant between the pectoralis muscle and the mammary gland. This procedure requires less recovery time because only are cut skin and fat, rather than muscle, making the patient feel less pain and discomfort in port-surgical process. In the submuscular placement of the breast implant, also called subpectoral, the implant is placed behind the pectoral muscle, that is, the implant is placed between the muscle and the chest wall in the space below the muscle. This procedure is a little more painful and post-operative recovery takes longer. For me It is an honor to be entrusted with the procedures you would like to have done, and the results you wish to obtain. So one of the recommendations I can give you is to plan very well what should be done for the procedures you chose to perform and more if they are invasive, such as mammoplasty, rhinoplasty, liposuction or lipectomy, to name a few.

The first thing to do is to prepare a list and update it, this will help you to have more details of what you need. As a surgeon, I propose an estimated times for you to take into account when preparing for your surgery.

Facial rejuvenation: plan this procedure at least six months in advance, before an important occasion so that the swelling has gone away completely.

Rhinoplasty: when you are planning this surgery two months in advance, it is safe that you will not have traces of inflammation.

Breast augmentation: most of time the breast augmentation recovery is usually quick response to my recommendations. It is best to plan the surgery a month before an expected event.

Liposuction: recovery time varies according to the rendered fat, or according to each patient, some may need between ten to fourteen days without efforts. For this reason, plan your months before surgery to have a good postoperative without any risk.

Tummy Tuck: to showcase a harmonious silhouette on your vacation, plan your surgery three months earlier to give time to your recovery and you can go walk without any problem.

This clarification about recovery time will help you to organize your life to preserve your health while remaining perfect and achieve the desired results.

Before practicing this surgery, medical records of patient should be evaluated in order to avoid risks. In addition, when preliminary assessment is set, the patient should express their expectations in order to respond to them and give the best options, alternatives, limitations, and care suggestions they sholud have. It is very important that the patient talk as honestly as possible about their habits and consumption for successful surgery.

Once the surgery is performed, it is normal patient feels tired and kind of painful which is controlled by medication I prescribe; however the third day, it is quite possible that he or she can return to their regular activities.

It is essential that the patient be committed to her or his recovery and uses 24 hours a day a post surgical bra for one month followed.

I do not recommend use of pools to avoid infection; after 10 days from the procedure, I remove incision stitches and suggest getting back exercising 3 to 4 weeks past. The patient may experience low sensibility or tingling in the breasts but past few weeks, this feeling goes plummeting.

Finally, I suggest annual mammograms control which are practiced in a radiology center expert in reading projections taken for breasts with implants.

This is one of the frequently questions after breast augmentation surgery or breast surgery since they are afraid of hurting therir breast with conventional bras that may damage their surgery.

The most important is as your physician recomends you the correct bra to wear after removing bandages and attend my recommendations in the postoperative. It is very important to choose the appropriate bra after the growth of breasts, lift, reduction and reconstruction operation, since a correct choice will help lessen discomfort.

A good bra for your recovery must have folloing characteristics:

1. Comfort: the BRA should be comfortable to encompass the area sensitive and sore.
2. Security: must protect the area properly, strong movements.
3. Features: according to each patient I recommend using bra sports without rings for months and according to the evolution may be changed.
4. Elastic and soft material: to ensure that the bra is seamless and that the straps are to graduate, so you can adapt it.
5. Prescription: remember to follow my recommendations to avoid inconveniences in your recovery.

The BRA function early in the postoperative period is to help that breast has appropriately, for this reason it should be used in the estimated time that give them.
